Haiti, officially the Republic of Haiti, is a sovereign state in North America. It is located on the island of Hispaniola, in the Greater Antilles archipelago of the Caribbean, and shares Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic to its east. By area and population, Haiti is the third largest Caribbean nation (after Cuba and the Dominican Republic), with 27,750 square kilometres (10,714 sq mi), and an estimated 9.9 million people; about a million of whom live in the capital city of Port-au-Prince. The locals all speak Creole, and most speak at least some French as well.
Global Potential youth are encouraged to document their experience in film. As a result, a number of our youth have created documentaries. Enjoy!
Global Potential visited over a dozen possible villages in 2009 and 2010 before selecting our current partners: Terre Froide, Bas Gormand and Cité Soleil. The locals all speak Creole, and most speak at least some French as well.
