Sasha De la Cruz

Sasha, a native New Yorker of Dominican descent, graduated from Barnard College this May with a B.A in Sociology. At Barnard, she was the senior class representative on the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) advisory board and works as the liaison between the HEOP Students and the administration. She finished her senior thesis on Dominican migration and is very interested in community economic development, infrastructure and migration. Last summer she worked with a non-profit organization that deals with adult literacy in different Bateyes outside of Santo Domingo. Sasha was also the captain of the Columbia Women’s Ultimate Frisbee team for the past two years and also enjoys traveling. She is fluent in Spanish and has a working knowledge of Portuguese.
