HOW TO APPLY IN 5 STEPS **It can take you up to an hour to complete this online form if you take the time and reflection to fill it out. *** This application is divided up into 3 sections:
I. Basic Information, II. Ten Questions with Short Answers, III. Two Questions with Creative Answers
——————————————————————————————————————————-
1. TELL your parent/guardian about Global Potential!! You will need their permission to apply: they need to sign the form on page 5 no matter what even if you submit this online. If you are accepted for an interview with Global Potential, they will need to come to a mandatory parent meeting before your final acceptance!
——————————————————————————————————————————-
2. ASK 1) a teacher and 2) a guidance counselor or social worker to nominate you and have them EACH fill out a recommendation form! (online or hard copy)
——————————————————————————————————————————-
3. FILL out the application above online and click SUBMIT!
——————————————————————————————————————————-
4. SEND US If you have by mail (see below for our addresses) a photocopy of your passport (+ Green Card if you have). If you do not have your passport yet, you will need to go to the U.S. Post Office to get an application and submit it. You can then photocopy the application that you submitted so you can show us that you have applied.
****NOTE: Global Potential can help you if you need the help of a lawyer or an organization to get correct paperwork done. Even if you will be traveling during the summer of 2012, it is not too early to start now! So please take this point seriously. We have had to turn away some students from traveling in the past even if they had completed successfully phase 1 of Global Potential, just because they did not have their passports on time!
——————————————————————————————————————————-
5. AWAIT FOR AN INVITATION if you are selected to Global Potential based on your application. You will be asked for 1) an individual and 2) a Group interview in December 2011.
***NOTE: even If you are accepted, this is still not final to guarantee your summer cultural exchange in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Nicaragua or Israel! Your commitment during the first phase of GP (January-June) will indicate whether you can travel with us summer of 2012, and of course, as noted in point 4, if you have all your paperwork! Remember: the first step to SOCIAL CHANGE is COMMITTING TO IT.
